Vineyard News Update

Harvest is in full swing. On the whole, Autumn has been warm and sunny, though our team of 15 or so hardy pickers have had to test their waterproofs on a couple of occasions.
We’re all feeling a mixture of excitement and relief; excitement at the quality of the grapes which is fantastic this year, and relief that the yield is back to normal too. The last 2 years have been smaller than normal, though also good quality, hence selling out of our still wines by August this year.
The press (and the winemaking team) have been hard at work with 2 or 3 press loads a day/night. It’s not quite a 24 hour operation, but looking at the winemaker, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was (I’m his wife, so I can say these things!!) We’re all looking forward to this year’s wines; if the crisp, sweet, deliciously balanced grape juice is anything to go by, they should be even better than 2008’s wines (and they were good)!

The Fruits of our Success!

Our Fruit Wines have recently been the subject of a spread in The Independent's Life Style section. Journalist Clare Rudebeck came here and sampled our Redcurrant Wine
which featured in her article, "A berry nice little vintage".
Our Ginger Wine has also been successful, receiving a Gold Star in the Great Taste Awards 2009. These two and the Elderberry are currantly available (excuse the
pun), with the whole range of fruits being available again by the end of the year.
