Summer Celebrations

on July 1, 2011

Spraying is underway. At last! We spend alot of the summer waiting for the wind to die down or the rain to stop to get exactly the right mix of still and dry, with enough of a dry spell after we’ve finished, otherwise it just gets washed off and we have to start all over again!

Time and again we find we’re biting our nails to see if the weather forecasts are correct, and we did the right thing to spray, or not, as the case may be. We use as little spray as we can, but our cool maritime climate is perfect for diseases such as botrytis and mildew.

Now is a particularly key time as the vines are flowering – it is the flowers which become grapes – so the Winemaker and his production team have started obsessing over weather reports and websites. This obsessing continues until the grapes are all safely picked, pressed and fermenting in our vats by mid to late October (usually).

In the spirit of enjoying every possible sunshine hour, we have put together a selection of great mixed half case offers; a mix of our Sparkling Wines, a mix of our Still Wines, and a mix of our most summery Sparkling, Still and Fruit wines.

Please see our Shop for further details of these and other offers.
